a conversation about space - physical and virtual - how it shapes our interactions and how our interactions shape it

One of my students forwarded me this link “Abstract City”
a lego city created by Christoph Nieman, a NY Times illustrator who just moved to Berlin:
space, mobility (mental and physical) and of course evocative “objects” - his madeleines - and also technology (the blog) as a way to share with others.
thanks Lane for the link.

Hi,
In the volume on “Evocative Objects” I mentioned yesterday, I found this quote by Knorr Cetina on “epistemic object” which I’d like to share with you:
Epistemic objects “are processes and projections rather than definitive things… Objects of knowledge… are more like open drawers filled with folders extending indefinitely into the depths of a dark closet” in Knorr Cetina, 1997, “Sociality with Objects: Social Relations in Postsocial Knowledge Societies”, in Theory, Culture and Society 14 (4): 12
To me Building_Space_With_Words is a sort of epistemic object: although it might look “closed” because the installation will have a definite shape and structure, its meaning is open and is more like a drawer open to me and to others… I’m sharing my folders with you and hoping that you will add your folders in the drawers.
Cheers,
al
