LIU Day — Scrabble Poem: Fall 2007 by Zahra Patterson
Wind blew the clean air, forcing a raven out of his hole
Lungs filled from the root of my chest
Giving me a renewed purpose for life
The briskness ushered in fall leaves
Minks have made their seasonal debut
This climate reminds me of a zit faced chum,
who took a quiz as a jumper on a nearby golf course
He challenged his opponent to a dual
When asked for his id, he was rejected from the match
Demanding an assay for his failure and wanted asay
The tape rewinds, proving a clear defeat
He claimed the falling leaves stunted the intended leap
His quotes could be heard for miles
“A re-quiz, I demand a re-quiz, I shall not be defeated!”
The dejected friend, zits and all, would rather rewind the time and
Zone out to ward off any thoughts of losing
Instead he lunges forward towards a new day
When he can sink a hole-in-one and breathe new life!
